Tooty Ta

We started dancing to a new Dr. Jean song this past week.  It is called Tooty Ta and the children really loved following the directions to the song.  Get up your child up and ask him/her to show you how it goes!

Monarch Butterflies

Thanks go out to Luke for bringing in three caterpillars for us to observe.  While we had fun observing the caterpillars the major changes seem to take place while we were at home and not in our classroom!  The video below is from last year.

Color Rhyming Song

I adapted this video from the Color Rhyming Game we played on our Mimio Board.  We sang the song to the tune of Five Little Ducks.  After each verse we pulled out a hidden crayon that answered the rhyming riddle.  The children then had to go find the color in our room.  Have your child watch the video.  You could pause the video while the crayon is on the screen and have your child find the color.

*I watched the video after I posted it and realized I messed up on one of the verses!  See if your child can figure out what my mistake was and have him/her tell me about it so that I can fix it.

Monarch Butterflies

We have really enjoyed watching and learning about Monarch Butterflies.  Everyday the children loved going to the Science Center to see what was happening with the caterpillars.  This Smilebox highlights what we observed.

Wayne County Fair

The Wayne County Fair has come and gone for another year. I am sure if your family attended the fair you all had a great time. The children have sure enjoyed talking about the fair. I have had a lot of fun checking over the “fair homework”. Below you will find a Smilebox I made about the Wayne County Fair that I have been showing to the children at school.  I hope you enjoy watching with your child at home.

We also have been reading a book that I made about the fair.  Please feel free to print it off for your child and you to read.  This is a first of many books that I will be putting on the blog for you to print off it you would like to do so.

Snap and a Book Review

The students love to read this word!

Here are the results of our first book review.  By looking at the graphs you can see that the book Five Little Monkeys Sitting in the Tree is a very popular book in our classroom.  The children had to come up to the Mimio Board and graph their answer.  They also had to give me a reason why they chose their answer.  If you don’t already have this book at home try checking it out from the library to read with your child.

Afternoon Class

One of the children’s favorite videos is Five Little Monkeys Swinging from the Tree.  It is based on the book.  It has provided us with the opportunity to talk about having different versions of strories.  There is the video so you can watch and sing along with your child.

School Friends

Have fun watching the following Smilebox with your child.  Ask your child to tell you the names of his/her friends when they appear on the “big screen.”  If your child is not quite sure of the names of all his/her new friends look them up in your child’s Reading Folder that came home this past Thursday.

Science Thursdays

We have been observing a caterpillar in our room for the since We had a lot to observe with our caterpillars this past week.  On Tuesday we watched the caterpillars eatting constantly.  We moved them into a bigger container.  On Wednesday morning we noticed that two of the caterpillars were hanging upside down from the twigs that we put in their container.  On Thursday when we looked the two caterpillars had transformed into chrysalises. We are looking forward to see what happens next!
