Density Dan

Density Dan

Meet the Quirkle Density Dan. Density Dan shows his friends, Dipsy Dog and Danny Duck, how salt water is denser than fresh water in a story written predominately in words that begin with the letter D. After completing the story we tried the science experiments outlined in the back of the book. The students discovered that all water is not the same and that some liquids do not mix!

Homemade Butter

Butter begins with a Bb and we made some in school this past week.  The children really enjoyed making it, spreading it on their bread, and eating it!  Some of the children asked me for the recipe and I told them I would put it on the blog so here it is.  Click on the picture to enlarge it.  Have your child show you how we made it.

Letter B

I played this video for the children this past week.  Up on our big mimio board the video appeared very blurry.  I told the children that I would put it on the web site so that they could watch it at home and maybe it wouldn’t be so blurry.  Have your child post a response in the comment box.  If the video was blurry have your child type YES in the comment box.  If the video wasn’t blurry have your child type in NO in the comment box.

Hey, blurry starts with the letter B!  The children were getting good at identifying letter Bb words this past week.

Leonardo the Terrible Monster

We read this book back a few weeks ago and the children are still talking about it.  I had the children graph whether they liked or disliked the book.  Click on a graph to make it bigger to read.  Have your child interput the data with you.

The Beanie Bag Dance

We found a new song that we loved at school this past week.  It is by Steve and Greg and it is called the Beanie Bag Dance.  I have a lot of beanie babies, so I got them out, and we followed Steve and Greg’s directions as what to do with our beanie babies.  Do you have a bean bag or beanie baby laying around the house.  If you do go get it and ask your child to show you how he/she can follow directions.  Click on the song title below the picture.

The Beanie Bag Dance

Bean Bag and Beanie Babies start with the letter Bb.  I know we will be playing this song a lot as we are working on the letter Bb this week.  I also have another Bean Bag song that I will be playing for the children.  Check back later this week to watch and move along to the video.

I’m the Letter T

The children loved playing this video over and over again this past week during Free Choice Time.  A couple children even said “Hey, I know that song.  It’s the Delilah song.”  Watch it with your child and see if you can recognize the tune.
